Dental Implants Sacramento, CA
A permanent solution for missing one or more teeth.
Dental implants are the most permanent and strongest solution for patients who may lose a tooth or have gaps from missing teeth. Dental implants can be used for either single or multiple missing teeth, and they derive their effectiveness from the unique process of their placement in the jaw.
A dental implant procedure consists of two parts: First a medical grade titanium screw (root replacement) is placed in the jawbone. The screw adapts to the jawbone causing bone growth around it to support it just like a natural tooth root. This process is called Osseointegration. The implant is placed so that the end of the screw projects through the gum in the location where the tooth is missing.
Second, once the titanium implant is supported by the bone and the tissue has fully healed, a fabricated dental crown is cemented over the exposed screw, to create the final replacement tooth. Dental implants require the patient to be committed to good oral hygiene—brushing and flossing.
